South Africa’s top voted 2013 SA Idols winner, Musa released his brand new album The Dream on 11 April 2014.
Since winning season 9 of the popular reality show in November 2013, Witbank born musician Musa has spent his time locked up in the recording studio working on his debut album. This Afro-Soul masterpiece is everything he dreamed it would be, as the title suggests, and he is ecstatic to be so close to the last stages of the album’s process.
When asked about the inspiration behind his album, he speaks fondly and profoundly of the legends that inspire him such as Tsepo Tshola and the late Jabu Khanyile. It comes as no surprise why Musa has such a strong love for soul music.
He further mentions that he worked closely with the Afrotraction and other producers so they had a good understanding of how he wanted his album to pan out, which entails him putting a message of affection and reminding his aficionados not to forget how to fall in love and believe in themselves.
Kudala ngizula is such a feel good track inspired by the eclectic sounds of yesteryears with the likes of Bayete springing to mind. A track firmly rooted in the rich and vibrant South African musical heritage it reminds us of where we are coming from while telling us where we are headed. Produced and written by the talented Afrotraction, it is sure to have you bopping your head, tapping your feet and moving from side to side.
Musa’s PR team sent us a copy of the album for a listening session and we think this young is going far. The sound of “The Dream” is mature and his voice is strong and clear. There are a few tracks on the album which will surprise people, the collaboration with Afrotraction is going to be a hit. That song song is beautiful.
